Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs are accepting applications for the position of Youth Worker at our Teen Junction location in Vernon. This is a fulfilling opportunity for someone who is energetic and creative, who wants to practice their youth care skills in a supportive team environment.

• We offer a 10% discount offered to employee whose children are registered in our child care programs, including preschool, day care, and after school care programs. This discount will be offered to all Agency staff that work 20 hours a week or more, and have passed their probationary period.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervising and engaging youth in the Drop In program – ensuring safety and responding to youth needs
• Role modeling positive behavior & providing strengths-based, individualized approach to youth care
• Developing, implementing and evaluating recreation and life skills programming within the club and community that is engaging and fun
• Engaging with families in a positive, supportive and professional manner
• Providing referrals when appropriate
• Working as part of a team – collaborating, sharing information and supporting each other
• Liaising with community partners in an appropriate and professional manner
• Assessing risks and ensuring safety procedures are used to minimize risks
• Ensuring that program spaces and equipment are maintained

Qualifications:
• Experience working with high risk youth an asset and/or a diploma/ certificate
• Current First Aid Certification
• Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver License is an asset
• Food Safe is an asset
• Successfully complete Agency screening process including criminal record check

Hours: Position #1: 12 hours per week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
Position #2: casual/relief hours

Rate of Pay: $15.10 per hour
