Position overview:
We are seeking a talented and empathetic empowerment specialist who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities. As the right hand person to the community, you will provide essential guidance, support, and encouragement to foster independence, self advocacy, and overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Personalize support: develop customized support plans for clients with disabilities through thorough needs assessments, fostering a sense of empowerment, independence, and self sufficiency.
2. Skill Building: provide hands-on assistance in developing practical life skills, including communication, budgeting, job readiness, and community engagement.
3. Emotional Support: create a safe and inclusive environment that encourages open communication, active listening, and fostering a sense of belonging to promote emotional well-being.
4. Community integration: Facilitate social connections and participation by organizing and attending community-based activities, outings, and events that promote inclusion and build meaningful relationships.
5. Advocacy: collaborate with community resources and government organizations to ensure maximum benefits, support services, and resources are accessed for clients.
6.Progress Monitoring: document to maintain accurate records of clients progress, ensuring timely reporting and feedback to ensure the efficiency of support plans.
7. Team Collaboration: collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals, counsellors, and families, to develop holistic support strategies and approaches.

Qualifications: Human Service Worker certificate or equivalent.
- Class 5 B.C. drivers license
- clean drivers abstract
- Criminal Record Check
- Negative TB test
- First Aid
- COVID-19 Vaccination
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a community support role (desirable).
- A genuine passion for empowering individuals with disabilities to lead independent, fulfilling lives.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy, patience, and the ability to build strong, trust based relationships.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing circumstances, demonstrating resilience and creativity in problem-solving.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of local community resources and services available for individuals with disabilities.
