Requirements
The School Learning Strategies Coordinator works collaboratively to provide a variety of supports for students, teachers and parents. Under the direction of the Division Principal, and overseeing members of the Senior School Learning Strategies Department, this individual will ensure that all stakeholders have a good understanding of how best to guide students towards meeting their learning goals.
The Senior School Learning Strategies Coordinator will provide leadership in the Learning Resource vision of the School, and on ways to support the diverse behavioural, emotional and academic needs of students.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor of Education and a British Columbia Teacher’s Certification (or equivalent).
Knowledge of BC Special Education policies and guidelines, along with Special Education qualifications, are an asset.
5+ years of teaching experience is an asset.
Demonstrated experience as an enthusiastic, innovative, and caring educator, with a commitment to diversity and inclusion in all its many dimensions.
Demonstrated understanding and experience with the BC Curriculum and pedagogical approaches.
Ability to contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of an IEP in consultation with teachers, parents, students, and community resource personnel.
Understanding on how to support diverse learning styles at an elementary level.
Experience in co-planning with teachers to ensure students’ needs are addressed and appropriate accommodations are applied effectively.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to be collaborative, innovative, flexible, and organized with attention to detail
