Senior Summer Camp Counselor

As the Senior Camp Counselor you will lead children with weekly-themed camps through a variety of activities, arts & crafts, games, nature walks, gardening, and more. You will provide a high level of fun for children from ages 5 to 12 years.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Engages children in interactive activities including organized arts and crafts, singing, games and nature walks
- Ensures use of supplies, snacks and drinks follow the amount prearranged by the department budget
- Assists with general camp duties throughout the day, including maintaining the proper camp staffing ratios and ensuring the safety of the campers
- Creating and developing weekly lesson plans
- Being able to modify, problem solve, and think on your feet of children activities
- Leads a group of up to 10 to 12 campers ages 5-12 with a fun, positive and outgoing attitude while acting as a role model
- Ensure employer’s policies and procedures are observed at all times
- Develop positive relationships and open communication with children, family members, and other staff members
- Share the tasks of maintaining the building’s cleanliness and orderliness
- Attend to the children’s physical and emotional needs
- Administer first aid when required
- Ensure a healthy and safe environment in which children can interact

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

- First Aid for Infant/Child with CPR/AED
- Food Safe Certification
- Responsible Adult
- Clear Criminal Record check
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- 3 Written References
- Canadian citizenship or permanent residency status
- Ability to frequently stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms
- 1 year of camp, coach, or teaching experience

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- June 17- August 30, 2019
- Monday to Friday
- Hours of Operation: 7:30am-5:30pm
- Full time opportunities available – 35-40 hours per week
- Part Time Shifts: 7:30am-12:30pm or 12:30pm-5:30pm

LOCATION: Lakeside School, Kelowna, BC

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Salary: $14.00 to $16.00 /hour
