Production Supervisor
SRI Homes - Kelowna a division of Champion Canada International ULC (Canada’s largest producer of manufactured housing) is looking for an experienced Production Supervisor who will also lead the production floor as our lean champion at our manufacturing plant located at the northern end of Kelowna, in Winfield. This position reports to the Production Manager.
The successful candidate will be accountable for:
• Planning, organizing and evaluating the operations
• Leading employees through orientations, training, mentoring opportunities and coaching to best performance. Training topics include: production methods, safety, policies & procedures.
• Leading continuous improvement teams in the planning and execution of Kaizen and 5S initiatives for the shop floor.
• Developing and leading root cause analysis groups leading to future prevention and plan and implement changes to methods of work
• Supervise and train or oversee training of employees in the new procedures
• Demonstrating a sense of urgency to meet key targets, standards and accountabilities.
• Building teams and maintaining lasting relationships with peers, corporate departments, key business partners and employees.
• Using well-developed problem-solving skills to find new methods and to incorporate them into existing practices.
• Budgeting of resources local to your department and global to the plant
• Develop and implement plans to efficiently use materials and resources
• Develop production reporting procedures
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Previous work in a pre-fabricated manufacturing setting is an asset.
• Formal training and practical experience in Lean manufacturing principals/techniques. Emphasis on cycle time reduction and 5S using Kaizen principals and techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to motivate, train, and coach employees on process changes.
• Reasonable understanding of change management principals.
• Experience in a unionized environment preferred.
• Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
• High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability.
• Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc.
• Level 2 or 3 First Aid
The position is a full-time, salaried position and offers full benefits upon completion of probationary period. Salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
