Parks Labourer

Are you a reliable, team player who enjoys working independently and engaging with the public? Do you want to grow your knowledge and experience in basic park operation techniques like landscaping, maintenance, and construction?

If so, our Parks Services Department wants you on the team in one of our seasonal Parks Labourer roles! This is a great opportunity for candidates looking to develop their knowledge, skills and career in park operations. You will report to the Supervisor - Park Operations and be led by a Team Lead in the field.

As the successful candidate, you will:
Perform daily general park maintenance duties such as:
a. Collecting garbage, recycling and litter.
b. Cleaning washrooms, facilities and infrastructure.
c. Completing inspections and maintenance reports.
d. Providing information and assistance to the public.
Assist with:
a. Ongoing trail maintenance and construction.
b. Natural area management.
c. In-house constructed capital projects.
d. Horticultural activities.
e. Facility and amenity maintenance.
f. Delivery of the risk management program.

To be successful in this role, you will be self-motivated and reliable and have excellent time management, communication and organizational skills. You have a friendly, helpful demeanor while working with the public, and the ability to work independently and on a team in order to provide a safe, clean park area. This job requires a candidate who is able to work outside in all weather conditions and perform a variety of physical tasks on the job.

This is a full-time, seasonal position anticipated to begin on April 13, 2021 and conclude in November 2021. We offer on-the-job training, a salary of $26.99 per hour and a full range of benefits. This position consists of a 40-hour work week, including weekends.
