Your Opportunity:
The duties and responsibilities of a Vocational Instructor include continuing excellence in one's field, instructional and professional duties, professional development and service.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field. An Instructor's Diploma or valid BC Teacher's Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred, and will be required following appointment in accordance with the Collective Agreement. Five years’ experience in the mental health, social service or community living fields.
Functions and Duties:
Instructional duties may include any or all of the following: instructional (teaching assignments); course and program preparation and revision; practicum placement; student contact; student advising; evaluation and marking of student work and other functions related to instruction.
Professional duties may include any or all of the following: curriculum development, student registration and pre registration duties.
Professional development is activity intended to promote teaching excellence, subject area competence and technical competence in the area of professional or instructional expertise.
Service may include any or all of the following: school visitations; participation on OC committees; attendance at articulation meetings; representing OC at other function; administrative and other duties
Skills and Abilities:
Candidates must be committed to a team approach, demonstrate good written and oral English skills and have good interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional teaching record with demonstrated learner-centred teaching philosophy. Successful applicants will be an integral part of the team that will help Okanagan College realize the promise of a world-class college. Candidates will be comfortable in a computerized environment and demonstrate knowledge of programs relevant to their discipline. The successful applicant will be able to encourage communication between students and faculty.

Salary range $62,828 to $100,958 annually; normal starting salary between $69,017 and $75,206 annually, dependent on relevant education and experience.
