Home Share Providers wanted

Home Sharing is an option where adults with diverse abilities have the opportunity to live more independently by sharing a home with someone who offers support when needed. Home Sharing provides individuals with a safe and secure environment and a sense of belonging with their chosen family. Individuals who are looking for home share range anywhere from age 19 to individuals in their 70s and 80s. They may require support with cooking, buying groceries, health, wellness, transportation, recreation, socialization, personal or civic responsibilities, and other domestic life skills.

Anyone can apply to become a Home Share Provider. Home Share Providers can be single individuals, couples, families with or without children, and can live in owned or rented premises. Once approved and matched with an individual, Home Share Providers are paid monthly at a rate that depends on the individual’s support needs. This rate ranges from $1000 to $4925 per month. Home Share Providers are also paid a monthly room and board payment which is $841 (for individuals under age 65) or $1005.80 (for individuals over age 65).

Pathways provides extensive training and orientation to ensure that Home Share Providers are well-equipped to support an individual in their home. Much consideration is given to identifying a positive match in lifestyles, personalities, and interests to ensure a long-term fit. Home Share Providers are approved based on meeting the standards set by Community Living BC (CLBC) and adhering to Pathways’ requirements and expectations. This includes a health and safety inspection of your home, reference letters, a satisfactory criminal record check, first aid, and other training.
