Halfway House Shift Supervisor
The Okanagan Halfway House Society has an opening for a full-time position working evening shifts (5 pm-1 am) on a rotation of 4 evenings on and 2 evenings off. Applicants would be required to complete an enhanced security clearance, and preference will given to a Human Service Worker graduate or someone with experience working with clients.
The salary is $17.50 per hour + 4% holidays paid each month. At the completion of a 6 month probation period the salary will be $3,000 per month, plus a 3% pension contribution, and a benefits package at 50% cost. The benefits package includes life Insurance, 90% prescription coverage, dental coverage, etc.

Overview
This position supports, encourages and guides residents in their adjustment to community life. Through effective supervision this position ensures the health and safety of the community is not put at risk by residents.
Qualifications
This position requires advance experience and/ or education in the human services field, preferably with experience in a community residential facility. Interpersonal skills, counseling skills and recording skills are vital to the position. (See Safety, Security and Standards; Staff Qualifications). Minimum grade twelve or equivalent and industrial first aid training preferred.
Reports to:
The House Manager or in his absence the Executive Director
Primary Duties
Residents and resident case plans:
Provides emotional support and access to resources needed by residents to make a successful transition from institutional life to the community
Manages resident case plans under assignment assisting these residents to develop realistic goals and to work toward them
Ensures that house residents comply with all rules of residency and that the health and safety of the public is not threatened by any resident’s behavior
Follows all curfew and supervision procedures including recording and reporting infractions
Supervises all resident and house activities while on shift; assisting residents and other staff, responding to requests, situations and emergencies as they arise. Responsible for Procedures as outlined for each position in Personnel Procedures.
Secondary Duties
Participate in staff and house meetings and training.
Assist the cook as required
The full-time afternoon position (4/6 days per rotation, 5pm-1am) will be required to conduct all monthly fire safety tests.
