KGH boss Kelowna’s best
The leader of KGH Foundation is this year’s top business person.
Kelowna Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday announced Allison Young as its 2024 Business Leader of the Year. She will be honoured during the organization’s 37th annual Business Excellence Awards on Nov. 15.
Young joined KGH Foundation in 2016 as its philanthropy director before moving into the role of chief development officer in 2019. She was named chief executive officer in 2022.
The business leader of the year is selected by an independent panel of judges.
“I feel so honoured to be recognized in this way,” Young said in a press release. “I started small, dreamed big and worked incredibly hard to get here. I am who I am today because of the amazing people who have believed in me and supported me along the way.
“This award not only celebrates my journey but also affirms the vital role of leaders in the not-for-profit sector. For this, I am very grateful.”
KGH Foundation is the lead fundraising organization for Kelowna General Hospital and its associated facilities and community partners, including JoeAnna’s House and Central Okanagan Hospice House.
“Our business leader of the year, Allison Young, is exceptionally deserving of this award,” chamber president Maryse Harvey said in a press release. “She leads an organization with an extraordinary mission, one that supports world-class health care in the Southern Interior. Her work impacts everyone in our region.”
The awards gala on Nov. 15 will be held at Delta Hotels by Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort. The chamber will hand out 16 business awards during the event.
