KCR Community Resources promoted from within to secure its new executive director.

Katelin Mitchell, who most recently served as the organization’s director of services, has replaced long-time executive director Ellen Boelcke, who retired in April.

KCR is a non-profit that targets diversity, collaboration and resourcefulness to fulfil community, family and individual needs. Its office is located on Leon Avenue in Kelowna.

Mitchell has been part of the organization for the last 11 years, as manager of immigrant services, director of operations and director of services.

“Katelin’s unwavering dedication, visionary leadership and deep personal commitment to our values make her the ideal person to guide us into the future,” KCR Community Resources president David M. Brown says. “Her extensive experience and passion for our mission have consistently demonstrated her ability to foster growth and innovation within our organization.”

Prior to joining KCR, Mitchell worked for seven years as an employment counsellor and team lead at Central Okanagan Immigrant Employment Services. She brings to the role a psychology degree and professional human resources certification.

“I feel very grateful to lead a team of passionate and qualified people in this work,” Mitchell says. “Through the years I have seen the impact of KCR’s work: saving lives through programs like the crisis line, people overcoming obstacles to reach their identified successes, and providing connections, housing, food and employment. We help people through temporary hard times that we can all experience and support them where they are at.”
