New Town Architecture + Engineering has submitted plans to the City of Kelowna to build nearly three dozen three-bedroom townhomes in Rutland.

The development would be located at 250, 270 and 280 Homer Rd., which are currently the sites of three single-family homes. The project would consist of six buildings, which would be home to 33 homes all three storeys in height.

Most new multi-family projects submitted to city planners have studio, one- or two-bedroom units, so the New Town project would create space for larger families.

“This development is a key family housing component to be added within the context of central Rutland,” New Town wrote in its application. “It complies with the zoning bylaw in all aspects, follows the OCP guidelines for appropriate development and delivers 33 much-needed, three-bedroom family homes.”

The project requires rezoning before a development permit can be issued.
