Born and raised in Toronto, Emily Phair kicked off her professional journey in the financial services sector. There, she gained invaluable insights into value-based selling and the essence of maintaining long-standing, trust-based business connections. Her journey took her across the country to Vancouver, where she made a mark in the recruiting industry, developing an extensive skillset and a wide perspective on the global level over two decades.
Phair’s career path brought her to Korn Ferry, where she excelled in executive search and recruitment process outsourcing. In 2011, she relocated to Vernon and started a new chapter in her professional life at Kal Tire. She initiated and implemented the first-ever corporate talent acquisition strategy for the company. It was here that she discovered the power of authentic storytelling as a tool to attract talent and elevate a company’s hiring brand.
In 2020, Phair joined a multimillion-dollar, US-based global staffing franchise. As a strategic growth leader, she played a crucial role in its successful acquisition by a multi-billion dollar conglomerate. Today, Phair is the president of TMG Search Canada, a U.S.-based global executive search firm. She spearheaded the firm’s expansion into Canada, with a focus on emerging technologies, life sciences, and health-care sectors for growth-minded companies.
Her leadership experience spans across Canada at Kal Tire and the U.S. with Management Recruiters International. She believes in setting the vision, providing the tools, and then letting the team run.
Away from her business responsibilities, Phair has made significant volunteer contributions in the Central Okanagan. In 2013, she served as vice-chairwoman on the board of directors for the North Okanagan Childcare Society. She led a sensitive rebranding initiative for the child-care centre, now known as Maven Lane, serving more than 300 children.
Phair also dedicates her time as a lead retailer for the annual Vernon Ski-Swap event, continuing her commitment to the community.
