A group of Canadian wineries is in Germany to tout its products to the world, and several of them hail from the Okanagan.

The ProWein International Trade Fair for Wines and Spirits in Dusseldorf, Germany, started on Sunday and continues until Tuesday. There are 16 Canadian wineries at the event, which dubs itself as the world’s No. 1 trade fair for wines and spirits, and attracts more than 50,000 industry and media members.

The Okanagan wineries taking part in the event are Oliver’s Arterra Wines, Burrowing Owl Estate Winery and Phantom Creek Estates, and Penticton’s Moraine Winery and Poplar Grove Winery.

“British Columbia wineries are thrilled to be returning to ProWein this year, where our wines will be shown alongside the best of the world,” Wine Growers BC communications director Laura Kittmer said in a press release.

“We are proud to have a strong presence in sharing Canada’s exciting wine story at this year’s international show, and it’s a great opportunity for our industry to build on the international recognition we have received for the quality of our wine and diversity of our terroir.”
