Interior Savings is donating nearly $78,000 to community groups throughout the B.C. Interior.

The total of $77,902 is being divided among eight groups, with the cash coming from Interior Savings’ Community Investment Fund. The fund was created in 2007 and has returned more than $2 million to the community. That includes $46,560 that was donated in the spring.

“As a member-owned credit union, we’re committed to serving the needs of the communities in which we operate,” Interior Savings CEO Brian Harris said in a press release. “Giving back to local groups that support the diverse needs in our community is a small way for us to be part of the solution—helping overcome barriers, challenges and systemic issues many in our region face.”

BrainTrust Canada, whose headquarters is in Kelowna, received $20,782 from Interior Savings to put towards its program that will provide interactive, community-based education on substance use, brain injury, and prevention and harm reduction strategies.

Other groups that received funding from Interior Savings:
• Archway Society for Domestic Peace, Vernon, $12,000
