Immaculata Regional High School will be hosting its fifth annual Kelowna Christmas Turkey drive this Friday, and its goal is to collect at least 250 of them.

The public is asked to drop off a turkey or monetary donations at the school, which is located at 1493 K.L.O. Rd., any time between 6:30 and 10 a.m. K96.3 morning hosts Brad Karp and Alysha Williams will broadcast their show live from the school.

The turkeys that are dropped off and the ones that are purchased through the money that is donated will go to Central Okanagan Food Bank.

“One of the primary goals of Immaculata Regional High School is to foster social awareness and a commitment to community service in our students,” Immaculata principal Rob Plaxton said.

“We are once again proud to host this event in support of the Central Okanagan Food Bank during their lead-up to the Christmas season, while in turn helping local families who are in need.”

Central Okanagan Food Bank has had a 30% increase in visits over the last 12 months, with the majority of new clients being either students, individuals on a fixed income or low-wage earners.

“We currently serve over 5,500 individuals each month, and we expect that number to continue to grow due to inflation and the high cost of living,” COFB revenue director Trina Speiser said.
