Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club is much closer to its holiday season fundraising goal thanks to a Kelowna businessman.

Brent Marshall, a commercial Realtor and business broker at Business Finders Canada, has purchased all of the Rotary Club’s remaining Season of Giving Prize Calendars for $36,240 and is challenging other philanthropists to match that dollar amount.

Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club is aiming to raise $250,000 through the Season Giving Prize Calendar initiative. The money will go to Kelowna’s Child Advocacy Centre and Kelowna General Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit, among other local charities.

Not only did Marshall scoop up the remaining calendars, but he is donating them to other charities like Mamas for Mamas, Kelowna Women’s Shelter, Now Canada and the Elizabeth Fry Society. The calendar is like an advent calendar, but it gives away prizes every day in December until Christmas Eve.

There are 202 prizes worth $63,000 being given away through the calendar fundraiser.

“We are so grateful for Brent’s purchase,” Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club member Chris Murphy said in a press release. “It brings us much closer to our fundraising goal, and we are hoping Brent’s generosity inspires other local philanthropists to donate and help us achieve our goal this year.

“We would also like to thank the 39 local sponsors and 73 gift donors who made this fundraiser possible.”
