The anticipation leading up to the holiday season only intensifies as it draws closer.

As if the season were not exciting enough, Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club is adding even more thrills to Dec. 1-24, all in an effort to help two remarkably worthwhile local organizations.

The group’s second annual Season of Giving Prize Calendar, presented by Business Finders, is currently on sale for $20 at all Kelowna, West Kelowna and Lake Country Save-On-Foods locations and in the Kelowna General Hospital gift store. Working like an advent calendar, you open a window each day to see what prizes are available to win. A number will be drawn daily for each prize, and if your number matches, you win. The winning numbers for each prize will be announced daily online.

The calendar will definitely give you a little more motivation to get up on those cold December mornings, knowing an amazing prize could be waiting for you.

Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club found 39 sponsors and 73 donors to make this year’s calendar the best one yet, as there are 202 prizes worth more than $63,000 up for grabs.

The organization’s goal is to raise $250,000 to give to Kelowna General Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as well as Child Advocacy Centre, which is a new, collaborative partnership that helps abused children. Last year alone the centre helped 485 young people—188 of them primary abuse victims. The centre needs the collective effort of government funds, private and corporate partners, and generous support from community fundraising.

That’s where you come into the picture, as purchasing a Season of Giving Calendar will help those children.

“We don’t change what happened to them,” CAC executive director Ginny Becker says, “but it’s important to change what happens to them next.”

Printed calendars, with artwork designed by local artist Dale Dirks, can be purchased at Save-On-Foods in Kelowna, West Kelowna and Lake Country as well as at the KGH gift shop.

“Help us support youth in our community, the NICU ward at KGH, Child Advocacy Centre and other community projects,” Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club president Randall Bamford says.

New this year is a digital version of the calendar, which can be purchased online at SeasonofGivingCalendar.ca.

The prizes you have a chance of winning are outstanding, to say the least. The list of what you could win includes:
• $3,000 of gift certificates from Save-on-Foods
• Luxury private wine tour for four with Wicked Wine Tour
• Golf for four at Shadow Ridge, Sunset Ranch, the Bear, or other local golf courses
• A three-night stay at Big White at Timber Ridge condo
• Scotch tasting for 20 people
• One night at Revelstoke Mountain Resort with two lift tickets
• Gift certificates for wine tastings and local restaurants
• Supercar track day with a professional instructor or wine tour with a supercar
• Gift of Flight; a round-trip flight for two guests to any regularly scheduled WestJet destination

So the next time you pop into Save-On to get some quick groceries, add a Season of Giving Calendar to your cart and help the local children who could use a little extra support.
