If you don’t have your gingerbread kit yet for the third annual Jingle Bell Build, time is running out.

Habitat for Humanity Okanagan is putting out the call for people to get involved in the organization’s important annual fundraiser, which this year will help complete its Lake Country building project.

Supply chain issues caused the fundraiser to start later this year, and Habitat is concerned that it might not reach its goal of $30,000 as a result.

The Jingle Bell Build competition is being held during the entire month of November. Individuals or families can purchase their kit for $25, build it at home and send in a photo before the deadline of Friday, Dec. 2. Businesses or small groups can join the competition as well, with those build kits costing $100.

RE/MAX Kelowna is back as the presenting sponsor, while Acorn Homes has come on board as the Habitat family sponsor, meaning all Habitat families get their kits for free. Visions Electronics has returned and will award a 55-inch television as one of two prizes in the family/individual category, while the corporate/team prizes in the do-it-yourself division will be awesome gift cards from various local businesses. The Source, meanwhile, has donated a Nintendo Switch game system for the people’s choice award winner.

The sponsors will also serve as the judges when it comes time to determine who has the best gingerbread house making skills.

The winners will be announced on Dec. 19.

Kits can be purchased online here and picked up at your local Habitat ReStore.
