You should definitely give the gift of cheese this holiday season.
It’s a delicious, thoughtful and unique offering that will make your friends and family like you even more.
The good news for you is Kelowna’s Perseval & Young Cheesemongers has plenty of exciting options from which to choose, whether you are looking for a present for that special someone or are in search of a perfect item for your holiday party.
Now in its fourth year of operation, Perseval & Young is pulling out all the stops as December approaches. In addition to their regular selection, the cheesemongers are offering a wide range of special items for the holiday season. These include Stilton in ceramic pots, Tete de Moine, raclettes, fondue cheeses, Reblochon, exclusive goat cheeses from France and foie gras.
“Another thing that would be really exciting for people is to let them know that we’re bringing different truffle cheeses in,” cheesemonger Desiree Young says. “Kelowna loves truffle, so I ordered in lots of different kinds of special truffle cheeses just to give our regulars especially something different to have at Christmas time.”
Adding special cheeses to holiday parties is becoming more popular, so Young advises people to act sooner rather than later when ordering their Perseval & Young selections for that special gathering. That is especially true for raclette and fondue orders.
Young and her husband, Philip Perseval, will also be there to advise everyone who comes into their shop on Richter Street. No one knows cheese better than the married cheesemongers.
“We’re here to help them and guide them through the cases, especially if they like to drink anything specific or if they’re having something special for dinner,” Young says. “We can help them curate a selection of cheeses to take home that everyone is going to enjoy.”
If you’re not sure what kind of cheese your special someone prefers, Perseval & Young has the answer as well. It offers its “famous” white gift box, wooden gift boxes as a luxury gift, gift cards and a three-month cheese box subscription that can start with a December box for those who order early.
“The gift of cheese, you can’t go wrong with that,” Young says. “Everybody enjoys a high quality item, and it’s a chance to kind of explore something new, especially when people are enjoying a glass of wine or two around the holidays.
“I always say when people bring in gift cards that those are good friends to have that are gifting them things like that.”
