Small shops will be front and centre this Saturday in Central Okanagan’s largest city.

Downtown Kelowna Association is bringing back Small Shop Saturday this weekend to promote the local economy. Participating businesses will put a special decal in their windows to indicate they are part of the event and will be offering special incentives, in-store promotions or one-day sales from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

It is all being done in an effort to promote how much small business contributes to the regional economy.

“Supporting local businesses is more important now than ever before,” DKA executive director Mark Burley said in a press release. “As we continue to recover from the last two years, we’re happy to once again present Small Shop Saturday this weekend.

“Enjoy walking outside in the fresh air and visiting businesses throughout downtown Kelowna as you do so.”

Providing even more incentive for people to head downtown are customer prize draws and free parking on streets and city-owned parkades and lots.

Prizes from Amora Day Spa, frock & fellow, Funktional Gifts, Mosaic Books, Kelly O’Bryan’s, Kelowna Beer Institute and Naughty Girl Essentials Lingerie will be up for grabs. Four draws will be made on Tuesday, and the winners will be revealed on Wednesday.
