A man who started his hospitality career as a CN Tower elevator operator is the new general manager at Watermark Beach Resort in Osoyoos.

David McBean, who has more than 25 years of hospitality industry experience, has International Sommelier Guild level one accreditation, and has worked for both global companies and independent properties throughout his career.

“I’m thrilled to join the incredible team at Watermark Beach Resort,” McBean said in a press release. “I know Watermark has all the ingredients to becoming a world-class resort and destination. As a Southern Okanagan resident, I see the resort’s relationships with the surrounding regions and partners, and how it has brought value to the local community. I’m excited to continue building on the strong foundation Watermark has developed over the years.”

McBean’s career has taken him to Fairmont Lake Louise, Delta Hotels in Vancouver, and Sun Peaks Grand Hotel and Conference Centre. He was already in Osoyoos when he got the Watermark position, working at Spirit Ridge hotel.

McBean has visited more than 60 countries and is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
