Rent drops slightly in July

Rental prices in the Central Okanagan held steady while inventory increased in the month of July, according to Castanet classifieds statistics.

The average prices for both one- and two-bedroom rentals both dropped slightly last month.

The one-bedroom price fell to $1,581 in July, which was down from $1,596 in June. That was based on 69 listings in Castanet’s classified section, compared to only 35 in June.

The two-bedroom price dropped to an average of $2,355 in July from $2,378 in June. The figure was based on 109 listings, which was up from 71 opportunities to rent in June.

June’s average two-bedroom price of $2,378 was the highest recorded by Castanet’s data.
