With what business or organization are you involved? Project INDigreat

What is your role with that organization? Founder/representative at Miss World Canada

What’s your favourite thing about living in the Okanagan? I get to enjoy the Okanagan Lake in the summer and the Big White Resort in the winter. My favourite thing about living in this place is not only its four-season recreational activities but also its people, who embraced me with open arms since I immigrated to Canada.

If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, who would you choose and why? Maria Thattil, Miss Universe Australia 2020. Much like myself she believes in inner beauty and has broken the stereotype of a pageant girl being tall. I would like to talk about her life growing up as an immigrant in Australia and the various barriers that she faced in the industry.

What’s your go-to happy place? My go-to happy place is the AMS nest on the UBC Vancouver campus, where I see many familiar faces. Whether I have to grab a quick bite or work on a long essay, this place provides me with the best environment to focus and also relax!

What are you most proud of? Representing one of the biggest immigrant populations of Canada, from the land I spent the majority of my life in, I started a new project called INDigreat, which illuminates the systemic and legislative challenges faced by Indian immigrants. This project will supplement the government’s endeavours of financial support and alleviate the barriers of culture shock and language. I am so proud to be getting so much support from the media and my community so fast. I have partnered with KCR and Pathway to Canada to implement this project.

What are the top three things on your bucket list?
1. Representing Canada and Project INDigreat on an international stage
2. Having my own dance studio
3. Getting a scuba-diving licence

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten? My dog’s kibble. I read that it was high in protein so did so out of curiosity!

Latest movie or book? A movie called Major, which shares the legacy of Major Sandeep, who sacrificed his life to save multiple lives in the Taj Hotel during the Attacks of 26/11 in Mumbai, India.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? My parents, who have always supported me unconditionally throughout my endeavors.

If today were your last day, how would you spend it? With my little Yorkie pup and best friend, Muffin, on the top of Knox Mountain, enjoying and giving him the best day.
