A group of teens proved they’re grasping the basics of business in designing their own entrepreneurship dreams with the Juniorpreneur program in Penticton.

For the second round, 15- to 18-year-olds spent five weeks learning about business, developing logos, drawing business cards, designing social media ads and writing business plans.

The program finished off with the final Lion’s Cave presentation, including judges Tara at Waycon, Jasmine at Castanet, Amanda at Elevation Woodworks and Nicole at Community Futures Okanagan Similkameen.

“Kieran, Zander, Kai, Seth, and Joselyn completed the course bursting with new businesses ideas,” Juniorpreneur shared on its Facebook page.

Sponsors included LocoLanding Adventure Park in Penticton, Community Futures, Elevation Woodworks, Kettle Valley Memorial Amante Real Estate, Waycon Mfg., Castanet and Action Edge Business Coaching.

“Congratulations to all the kiddos for completing the course and also having the guts to stand up in front of our amazing judges and present their business plans. All of these kids are so inspiring, including Danielle, who joined us for the first couple classes.”

Ultimately, the judges again could not choose between two of the five presentations for winners, so Seth and Kai were both announced as grand prize winners.

Kai is already running his business selling new and refurbished shoes at hefty yet attainable prices, mostly “kick” style shoes.

“His business plan was well understood and he is marketing to YouTube influencers among others,” Juniorpreneur said.

Seth was applauded for his enthusiasm for bringing together introverted youth through a safe space.

“Shonen Lounge will be a hangout space with comfy couches, snacks and good company at no cost. He will also put together a gaming/anime watching area that will require an entry fee and/or membership.”

The two walked away with Visa cards from Waycon and Graphically Hip, movie tickets from Castanet and Graphically Hip, cash from Community Futures and Elevation Woodworks, Loco Landing passes and ice cream from Lickity Splitz Ice Cream, pizza from Boston Pizza Penticton, and will be guests on HipNation, while all the kiddos took home prizes from Juniorpreneur, Castanet and Elevation Woodworks.
