The relationship started as a result of wildfire season.

Now Fresh Air is going to help Mamas for Mamas during the holidays as well.

The Kelowna sports store, which specializes in bikes, is conducting a holiday charity drive to make the Christmas season a little easier for parents who need a boost.

“Now, more than ever, it’s important to be helping out local families,” said Ryan Olar, who owns and operates Fresh Air Kelowna with his wife Amie and other partners. “Ever since we first heard about Mamas for Mamas, we’ve been in awe of the work they do for Kelowna families and knew we wanted to keep supporting them.”

Fresh Air will be accepting unopened toys, diapers, wipes, formula, non-perishables, gift cards and new or like-new clothing at its Harvey (18-2070 Harvey Ave.) and Pandosy (555 Groves Ave.) locations.

Fresh Air got motivated to act during the summer, when wildfires ravaged B.C. It looked for organizations that needed help, and it found Mamas for Mamas required plenty. It did its first charity drive for the Kelowna-based organization in October and is fired up to do its first holiday event for the group.

“We had really good success (in October), so we wanted to see what else we could do for them,” Amie Olar said. “It seems the need is always there and we wanted to do more.”
