We could sit here and go on and on about how great O’Rourke’s Peak Cellars Winery is, but several organizations that specialize in the wine industry have essentially done just that recently.
Start with the National Wine Awards of Canada, which named Peak Cellars the 19th best winery in all of Canada and lauded its wines with a pair of gold medals and a silver.

Then there is the BC Lieutenant Governor Awards, which dished out a gold and three silvers to wines from the Lake Country location.
And that was just in the last couple of months.
And that was just the wine.
There is a reason the word ‘Peak’ is in the name at this 300-acre Carr’s Landing location, which is open all year round. That’s because in addition to the splendid wine that Stephanie Stanley and her team produce year in and year out, Peak Cellars takes the winery experience to new heights.
“We are about quality wine, food and experiences,” general manager Heather Courtney says. “We are a young winery that focuses on 100 per cent Lake Country cool climate quality wines.”
A good place to start is the winery’s Garden Bistro, which offers a pristine setting and mouthwatering food that is supplied, in part, by the winery’s half-acre garden and two greenhouses. Fresh vegetables will find their way to your plate, along with that pizza, tacos, burgers, sushi, tenderloin or salmon you so desire.
Garden Bistro’s Happy Hour run from 3 to 5 p.m. daily, which will also get you $5 off pizzas. It also throws special events from time to time, like Pasta Night and Date Night, to keep things spicy.

If you’re more into the wine than the food, Peak Cellars offers educational tasting sessions that will allow you to get to know your favourite beverage a little better. It also encourages vino lovers to enrol in its wine club, which enables members to secure exclusive invitations to events and first access to its most enticing wines.
Speaking of wine, the four 2020 vintages that recently impressed the judges are now available as part of a four-pack for just more than $100. The Skin Kissed Pinot Gris, Goldie Red, Broken Granite Gewürztraminer and Pinot Noir Rosé are all part of the award-winning collection.
Peak Cellars is outstanding on its own, but it will soon have a sibling under the O’Rourke Family Estates umbrella. O’Rourke’s Family Winery, which is currently under construction nearby, is going to take the wine experience to the next level when it opens in the next couple of years. It will consist of winding tunnels and an amphitheatre for big concerts and shows.
In the meantime, Peak Cellars is the perfect getaway if you’re looking to get out of the holiday hustle and bustle for a few hours.
And don’t forget to buy a ticket or two for the barrel auction, the proceeds of which will go to Lake Country Food Bank and The Salvation Army.
