Kristie Caron is living, breathing proof that a healthy skin-care routine can work wonders on your physical and mental well-being.
It is also why the Penticton woman started a business in that very industry. She wants other women to feel the same way she does today after struggling with skin issues for long periods of her life.
“I have struggled with acne since I was a teenager and know how hard a pimple can be on a woman’s self-esteem,” Caron says. “But now I rarely get a breakout because I am on such a great skin-care routine with home care and treatments.
“The fact that I can help other women rid themselves of their insecurities fulfils me so much.”
Caron created Essentials Beauty Lounge in the South Okanagan because she knows the industry so well and because she loves nothing more than helping other women feel great about themselves.
“We have the ability to change lives by helping our clients feel comfortable in their skin, allowing them to be unapologetically themselves,” she says.
When she was having her battles with acne, Caron, a voracious reader, consumed every possible piece of literature on the topic she could find. It helped her understand what was happening and how it could be treated. She has done the same thing with every other treatment she offers, which is why Essentials Beauty Lounge gets results.
For example, who knew that fall was the best time to start laser hair removal treatments? Caron does.
“Fall and winter is the best time to start, because the way the laser works is the light energy from the laser is attracted to the pigment in your hair, so it’s best to not have a tan,” she says.
“You can get enough treatments in so that by the time spring and summer rolls around, you don’t have to worry about shaving or waxing.”
Caron knows receiving advanced and medical aesthetic treatments can be stressful, so she focuses on ensuring her clients are relaxed both physically and mentally. Her space is warm and inviting, and she will answer every question about a procedure before it happens.
There is nothing more relaxing than knowing exactly what is going to happen during a treatment, and Caron has the knowledge to alleviate any anxiety that might be caused by unfamiliarity with a procedure.
And once that concern is out of the way, Caron and her staff will get to work building that self-assurance.
“We’re about building confidence for women,” she says. “Like with radio frequency, I have clients wearing shorts who haven’t been comfortable wearing shorts for a decade. I have clients who clear up their acne and can leave the house without wearing makeup.”
Essentials Beauty Lounge, which recently moved into a new space at 100 Crescent Hill Rd., offers a wide range of treatments and services, including:
• Microneedling — This non-invasive and painless skin-rejuvenating procedure uses a needling pen to create thousands of micro wounds in the deep layers of the skin to promote the skin’s own healing mechanisms to stimulate new collagen and elastin fibres.
• Photo Facial — This is the perfect solutions to help your skin look younger and healthier, as they simultaneously treat the three main elements of aging skin by coagulating surface blood vessels, targeting pigmented spots and increasing collagen and elastin.
• Radio Frequency — This can be done both on the face and body. On the face it stimulates collagen and elastin, and reduces excess adipose tissue. It’s like a non-surgical facelift or chin tuck. The results are immediate, with a more lifted, smoother and tighter appearance, and the collagen and elastin continue to develop for 90 days. On the body it is the perfect addition to a weight loss journey because it can help to reduce stubborn cellulite and to tighten and firm the skin.
• Facials — There are many facial options to meet any of your needs. If you are wanting something quick and very results driven, the best choices are a clinical peel or any of the Institut’ DERmed skin treatments, or Essentials Facials. If you are wanting an unbelievable sensory experience with amazing massage, yet still targeted results, the Comfort Zone, known as Essentials + Facials, is the one for you.
Essentials Beauty Lounge also offers some of the beauty industry’s best products, including Jane Iredale makeup, which is so clean and pure it can be applied to skin immediately after microneedling treatments. Other elite products include Institut’ DERmed, the Italian-made Comfort Zone and Coola.
Caron’s new location includes two treatment rooms and a warm waiting area that only adds to the relaxed atmosphere for clients.
