Something special is brewing in Lakeview Heights, and the husband-and-wife team of Kieren and Gale Armour wanted to be a part of it.
The couple opened Lakesider Brewing Co. last year in their neighbourhood, well aware that good things are ahead for one of the most picturesque parts of West Kelowna.
Lakeview Heights is just east of Boucherie Road, also known as the Westside Wine Trail, and overlooks Okanagan Lake. Despite being on a busy path, the area is nicely tucked away from it all and is essentially a hidden gem.
“It is surrounded by natural beauty and flanked by picturesque vineyards that give it an almost European feel,” Kieren Armour says.
KiND Development Group purchased and redeveloped Lakeview Village Mall, located in the middle of the neighbourhood, and it features a Nesters Market, liquor store, pharmacy, craft brewery, hair salon, Montessori school and Domino’s Pizza. The Anders Community Hall and tennis courts are located across the street.
“As residents of Lakeview Heights, we are passionate about our community,” Kieren Armour says. “We wanted to build a gathering place for the community, where locals and visitors can enjoy fresh craft beer and a unique food menu close to home.
“We wanted our brewery to capture an ‘idyllic’ Okanagan experience, honouring the lakeside lifestyle in a way that is uniquely West Kelowna.”
It’s essentially a small community in the middle of the Central Okanagan metropolitan area, allowing you to enjoy the best of both rural and urban. It’s one of the most unique neighbourhoods in the Central Okanagan, and it is only a 10-minute drive to downtown Kelowna.
“The vibe is what makes our community so special,” Armour says. “It’s a unique mix of residential and agricultural land that has created a beautiful and charming oasis just outside of the downtown core.
“Residents get to have peace and quiet while at home, then enjoy fantastic wines just steps from home, and they can meet friends and neighbours at the new Lakesider Brewing Co. just down the road.”
The terrain makes for great cycling, walking and jogging, and, as mentioned, the tennis and pickleball courts are across the street at the community centre. Nearby Kalamoir Regional Park is great for hiking and has a dog beach, not to mention a fully equipped dock for launching kayaks and canoes.
The flourishing neighbourhood will really spring to life once The Residences at Lakeview Village rises from the slopes that overlook the lake. KiND Development Group is also behind The Residences, which will consist of 100 homes.
There will be one-, two- and three-bedroom residences with nine-foot ceilings and oversized balconies—most of which overlook a vineyard and Okanagan Lake—and it sits on freehold land.
One of the amenities will be an indoor greenhouse that will be hydroponically lit, ventilated and irrigated, allowing residents to grow food, plants or flowers on a year-round basis. There will be a number of outdoor planting boxes and a roof garden as well.
Other amenities will include a pool, hot tub, fitness centre, dog wash station and electric car charging ports. Given the area in which it will be located, there will be connectivity to many trails as well.
