An Okanagan non-profit is teaming with KPMG to offer free financial classes to the public.

Dollars and Sense is a program created by Launch Okanagan that will be held virtually over eight sessions and will cover tips on budgeting, saving and investing, credit and debt management, consumerism and your relationship with money.

“KPMG is excited to sponsor a financial education program in our community,” KPMG office managing partner Dave Bond said in a press release. “We see this as a great opportunity to help ensure people in the Okanagan have the skills they need to gain financial confidence and independence.”

The first Zoom session will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The program is offered with the option of anonymity, with the intention to get as many individuals the financial lessons they need in these trying times due to COVID-19.

The Charted Professional Accountants of Canada recently commissioned a survey that found nearly 30% of Canadians said their income had decreased due to the economic turmoil brought about by the pandemic.
