CIBC and Indspire have teamed up to help Indigenous students enter health and social development programs at Okanagan College.

CIBC has donated $25,000 along with funding from Indspire, a national Indigenous charity that invests in the education of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people, to create a $44,000 award fund.

Five students per semester for the next four years will have an opportunity to receive $2,200 towards the cost of their education.

“CIBC is proud to support the ambitions of Indigenous students, helping them achieve their goals,” CIBC Indigenous banking vice-president Jaimie Lickers said in a press release. “These students play an important role in helping to strengthen their communities and inspire the next generation to further develop their skills and become the leaders of tomorrow.”

The award fund is in support of the college’s Our Students, Your Health campaign, which is raising $5 million to finish the Health Sciences Centre on the Kelowna campus.
