Highstreet Ventures, Secure-Rite Mobile Storage and portia-ella were just a few of the big winners Thursday night when Kelowna Chamber of Commerce conducted its 33rd annual Business Excellence Awards.
Highstreet was named large business of the year, Secure-Rite secured the medium business award, and portia-ella claimed the small business honour. Secure-Rite was the night’s only double winner, as it also took home the Social Leadership Award. It was also a finalist for the Ethics in Business Award.
The awards show was conducted virtually from SW Events Technology in Kelowna due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The young entrepreneur of the year award was captured by Brandon Panopoulos, who joined TKI Construction in 2017 but now owns the firm and is using his experience to build notable projects in and around the Okanagan.
“We keep saying: It’s a year like no other,” chamber president Jeffrey Robinson said during the ceremony. “We are honoured to be able to continue spotlighting businesses in this year of celebrating resilience. Aall the nominated businesses and all the finalists, as well as the winners, have shown grit, innovation and a generosity of spirt toward their employees and the community.
