A finalist from last year’s Okanagan Angel Summit has been bought out.

According to BetaKit, Kelowna-based PLAYR.gg has been purchased by Trufan, a Toronto-based company that helps brands and influencers better understand and engage their social media followers. All ten PLAYR.gg employees, including co-founder and CEO Austin Walper, have joined the Trufan team.

“It was pretty imperative for (PLAYR.gg’s) team to come on,” Trufan co-founder and CEO Swish Goswami told BetaKit. “They’re some of the smartest developers we’ve met. They’ve built this platform from the ground up the last three years.”

PLAYR.gg’s technology will be integrated into Trufan’s audience analytics platform to provide customers with a single dashboard to segment and filter data, according to BetaKit.

PLAYR.gg, which was one of six finalists in the 2019 Okanagan Angel Summit, works with brands, e-sports teams, content creators and businesses to generate first-party data and grow their gaming audience through giveaway marketing and custom application program interface integration.

“Integrating with Trufan will allow us to introduce best-in-class analytics and allow us to further develop our platform by helping brands and creators to grow, segment, and activate their audiences in new ways that have never been done before,” Walper told BetaKit. “Our team has always been focused on building the best platform for brands and content creators to grow and manage their audiences, and this acquisition really accelerates our ability to execute and enhances our product offering.”

The value of the deal was not disclosed.
