You can now be certain your favourite restaurant has come up with a COVID-19 safety plan before you walk through its doors.

The BC Restaurant and Foodservices Association has created the Restoring Confidence app, which launches this week with the intention of assuring restaurant, pub, winery and brewery patrons they will be safe. It can be accessed through the provincial government’s BC COVID-19 support app.

“This is a program we’ve believed in since we began to talk about reopening in May,” BCRFA president and CEO Ian Tosteston said in a press release. “It’s essential to helping customers understand the steps that operators are taking to keep them safe and to investing in a safe recovery. This launch is much awaited and will be important for operators to sign up and show they are dedicated to following best practices outlined in the (provincial health orders).

“We are pleased to be actively working with the B.C. government on this aspect of their Stronger BC for Everyone, Economic Recovery Plan.”

The program is free for businesses, which are asked to upload an up-to-date COVID-19 safety plan along with their basic information. They will then be able to print a poster that they can put up on their door or front window, complete with a QR code. Patrons can then scan the code to see the business’ safety plan before they enter.

More information about the app can be received by emailing [email protected].
