Plans have been made for a new food and music venue in downtown Kelowna.
The three-storey building, whose backers applied for a development permit and variances earlier this week, will be known as Revelry Kelowna. It will be located on Ellis Street across from Okanagan Regional Library.
“Our wide open, hall-style environment will offer spaces suited for anyone seeking an alternative space to be productive and for groups looking to collaborate, all while enjoying simple but good food and beverage options,” the applicants wrote. “And there is always a chance you may catch a live performance on stage while hanging out.”
Revelry Kelowna will operate as a restaurant, music hall or urban ballroom, and it will be able to be reserved for private events. The plans call for three food and beverage locations throughout the venue, which will feature seating on the main floor and an open second level that will allow for vantage points of the stage.
The front facade will also have a marquee sign to keep locals and tourists abreast of current and upcoming events. The developers would also like to put a canopy over the sidewalk to cover arriving guests, which would require a variance from Kelowna city council.
Other variance requests involve the third-storey setback and parking.
