There are some new faces at the Vernon Farmers Market.

After more than eight year as manager, Ingrid Baron is no longer with the popular market. Amanda Fallis has taken over as interim manager.

There are also several new board members and a new president.

Rachelle Zelaney has taken the reins of the market, which meets every Monday and Thursday in the parking lot of Kal Tire Place.

“We just had a few directors step down. Some were unable to continue due to health reasons, some were unable to attend meetings and we have had a couple directors step down and new directors appointed to the board,” said Zelaney, adding Baron “decided to resign at this time and we’re transitioning right now.”

Zelaney said they are trying to make the transition as seamless as possible for the vendors and customers.

“We are going to try and keep it fairly the same. We don’t want to mix it up too much. Right now, we are transitioning and it’s a lot of work to train our new interim manager to fill Ingrid’s shoes. She was a great manager for the market for a long time,” said Zelaney. “We are just trying to keep the market going with as little disruption as possible.”

Fallis said the market has been busy even with the COVID-19 situation and more fruit and vegetables are starting to reach market.

“We’re coming up to peak harvest,” said Fallis, adding fresh batches of apples are coming in as is corn, plums, cantaloupes and other locally grown goods.
