Lucky To Go is ready to hit the road in Kelowna.

Whether you’re looking to head up to one of the area’s ski resorts, take a trip to the airport or simply get a safe ride home after a fun night out and about, the ride-share company promises to be a more affordable option for those looking to get around Central Okanagan.

Lucky To Go offers simplicity when it comes to completing the transportation transaction. All you have to do is download the company’s app and add your credit card details. Enter the trip to want to take using your phone’s location services, see what the journey is going to cost you and request a car. You will be able to track the vehicle as it makes its way to your location.

The trip takes place, you get out of the vehicle when you arrive at your destination, and the cost is automatically applied to your credit card. The only optional steps are providing a tip, rating the driver or offering your opinion on the state of the vehicle itself.

“It’s a slick way of paying and saying bye,” Lucky To Go founder Mandeep Rana says. “Get out, and off you go.”

To offer a perspective on how much more affordable ride sharing can be, Rana checked how much a trip from downtown Kelowna to the airport would cost in both a taxi and in a Lucky To Go car on an average Thursday afternoon. It was $42 in a taxi and an estimated $30 in a Lucky To Go vehicle.

And once the COVID-19 pandemic passes, Lucky To Go customers will be able to take advantage of pool rides. If you and a stranger are headed to the same direction, the cost can be shared. The fare decreases due to the fact there is more than one customer, and it still works out for everyone involved.

“It’s a win-win situation for all the parties,” Rana says. “The driver makes a little more, and the passengers pay less.”

Lucky To Go will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The company has already hired 40 drivers and is looking to add more to its growing fleet.

Anyone interested in driving for Lucky To Go should download the company’s app for Apple or Android devices and enrol. They can also check out the company’s website here.
