A Kelowna banker has been honoured with a national award for those under the age of 35.

Garrett Jones, who is the regional manager of business banking with Valley First, was recognized recently with a Canadian Credit Union Association National Young Leaders Award. It is given to business people under the age of 35 who have made significant contributions to Canada’s co-operative banking movement.

“Throughout this journey, I learned so much about myself and the credit union system, and this knowledge has made me a stronger community leader,” Jones said in a press release. “I was fortunate to have a remarkable team of individuals who assisted me along the way with feedback, advice and encouragement.”

Jones, who was nominated for the award last November, was one of only five winners across the country.
