Kelowna’s Summerhill Pyramid Winery opened its wine shop on Friday, and it will once again welcome diners to its restaurant on Wednesday.

In the meantime, the winery is offering its Robert Bateman Artist Series, which raises money on behalf of the artist and activist’s 90th birthday last Sunday. Summerhill makes a significant donation from every purchase of the Grasslands Organic wines to the Robert Bateman Foundation, which works with children to nurture the next generation of conservationists.

The purpose of the foundation is to establish and maintain an art gallery to perpetuate, protect, enhance and promote the artistic and cultural legacy of nature-inspired artists, including Bateman. It also strives to support or develop educational programs relating to the environment and nature-inspired artists.

Summerhill says its Robert Bateman wines are now in their primes, and a three-pack, which consists of a 2010 Grasslands Organic Cabernet Franc, a 2010 Grasslands Organic Merlot and a 2012 Grasslands Organic Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah, is available for $195.
