An international company with an office in Penticton has been selected to design an addition on a Kelowna hotel.
According to Building Magazine, HDR has won the right to design the 12-storey, mass-timber tower addition to Kelowna’s Ramada Hotel and Conference Centre. The tower will have 82 suites.
HDR, whose headquarters are in Omaha, Neb., also constructed the new TIME Winery building and Penticton Lakeside Resort’s west wing.
Kelowna is an early adopter of B.C.’s new mass-timber regulations, which means such structures can be built as high as 12 storeys.
Building Magazine said construction is expected to start next year.
