The Shore Kelowna will open its doors in mid-April, but it will come with a twist thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The brand new mixed-use building, which is located across the street from Boyce Gyro Beach, will officially start operating on Wednesday, April 15.

“While some may see the timing of the opening of The Shore to be challenging, we see it as an opportunity to be nimble and flexible as we respond readily and thoughtfully to the current climate,” RISE Commercial Developments founder and president Dr. Greg Appelt said in a press release. “We are designed and set up to offer short-stay or long-term rental, (but) considering the recent issues impacting the hotel industry, we are changing our short-term focus towards the regular apartment renter.

“We are opening up our suites to people looking for apartments to rent for the summer or longer, which will be a huge benefit to the housing crisis in Kelowna which tends to worsen in summer. Our team is readily available to provide additional information and assist in any way possible during this time.”

RISE says it will have COVID-19 cleaning programs in place that implement two-stage cleaning with top-quality cleaning chemicals and disinfectants to ensure the highest level of cleanliness at all times.

The Shore is comprised of 103 modern, fully furnished, luxury rental apartments, one floor of offices, and ground floor retail space. Each suite is move in ready and equipped with a full kitchen, furniture, TV and all utensils.

The Shore will not have a traditional front desk or an on-site concierge. The guest or tenant will receive all the information they need electronically.
