A second Tim Hortons for northbound travellers on Highway 97 in Kelowna is getting much closer to reality.
The base of the sign, which is not completely finished, is up on the front of the building, and the exterior looks to be mostly done.
The Tim Hortons, which is located between the Canadian Tire gas bar and the Kanata Hotel, generated some discussion at the City of Kelowna council meeting last June.
Councillor Ryan Donn didn’t want a restaurant with a drive-thru in an area that is “more walkable.”
Although Donn voted against the proposal, it still passed, and now drivers heading northbound on Highway 97 will have a second option to get their Timmies fix.
The other Tim Hortons located off the main artery’s northbound lane is located in the Esso at the corner of Harvey and Spall Road.
