A West Kelowna restaurant has cracked the top 50 list of Canadian restaurants to take a date.

Old Vines Restaurant, which is located at Quails’ Gate Estate Winery, made the inaugural list that was put together by OpenTable, which bills itself as the world’s leading provider of online restaurant reservations.

It was one of eight B.C. restaurants to get top-50 billing. Six of the eight are in Vancouver, and the other is in Victoria.

OpenTable conducted a survey about restaurant dating, and it found that 86 per cent of Canadian respondents feel “some level of stress when finding a restaurant reservation for a date.”

OpenTable has created a Date Nigh Matchmaker feature to help users find the perfect place based on their date and dining preferences.

Other interesting survey findings include:

• Nearly 40 per cent of Canadian respondents feel it’s acceptable to kiss on the first date, but only 24 per cent would share their meal with someone they’re seeing for the first time.

• Of the 40 per cent of respondents who said they would kiss on the first date, the majority are more likely to love Italian cuisine. Italian was the preferred date night choice, with one-third of respondents saying they would choose an Italian restaurant for a date.

• Almost 70 per cent of Canadians say they prefer going out for coffee or tea over drinks for a first date.
