If you were thinking about purchasing a home in Barnard’s Village, you better act quickly.

The north Vernon project’s developers have been selling homes at a remarkable pace. More than 85 per cent of the homes have been snapped up, including all of the 1,429 square-foot Express floor plans, which are the biggest homes in the development.

“We have move-in-ready houses,” developer Len Sloan says. “We have a couple of those, but the reality is that we are selling fast and if you’re looking for a house for later this year or for 2020 you better act soon.”

The most popular floor plan has proven to be the Charlotte, which features two bedrooms and a den. Those have been flying off the shelves, so to speak, and only two remain.

The incentive to buy in the “community next to everything” will increase this weekend when Barnard’s Village hosts a Parade of Homes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. You can save up to $13,000 on select homes, and if you stop by this weekend and buy they will add in an SS Appliance package or a washer and dryer set.

The neighbourhood has a new show home, which will be part of this weekend’s parade of homes, and it features the Barnard floor plan. The Barnard is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom home that varies between 1,079 and 1,106 square feet.

Barnard’s Village will feature 77 rancher-style homes that are perfect for those looking to downsize and not pay a hefty price for the single-family abode.

There is no age restriction, but the residents are trending toward those who are nearing the end of their working lives or have recently retired. Sloan is finding the residents have plenty in common and are therefore building a strong community bond as well.

Sloan said the community’s affordable prices, which are between $289,900 to $363,900, make it easier for some Barnard’s Village residents to spend their winters down south.

And its location allows residents to not have to hop in the car to pick up a loaf of bread. It borders the Walmart in north Vernon and is within a five-minute walk of more than 100 shops and stores.

The Barnard’s Village show home is located at 2-2100 55th Ave., along 20th Street, in Vernon.
