It’s a tradition right up there with pumpkin spice and sweaters.

Fall is encroaching on the Okanagan, and that means it is time for the apple harvest.

The Honeycrisp apples have arrived at Davison Orchard, and they are as sweet as ever.

Along with Honeycrisp apples, which are the most popular, there are are more than 20 different types of apples at the Vernon orchard from the original McIntosh variety to the more modern varieties such as Silken, Jonagold and Arlet.

Reasonable temperatures, a bit of rain, and lots of sunshine have helped the apple crop thrive this season.

For the month of September, Davison Orchards is focusing on everything apple.

People can take a tour of the orchard and pick a bag of their favourite variety of apples on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays as well as Thanksgiving Monday.

In addition, u-pick apple tours are available on Tuesday, Sept. 17 and 24, at 10 and 11 a.m.

On Saturdays and Sundays in September, the “Make A Mini Pie” event takes place from 2- 3 p.m. Kids of all ages can learn how to make a pie for just $5.

A full list of times and activities can be found online.
