The 2019 BC Food and Beverage Award Finalists have been announced and a Kelowna based company is up for Product of the Year.

According to the BC Food Processor Association, the finalists represent the best companies, products, and leaders who inspire impactful initiatives within their award categories. Kelowna’s Caramoomel has been named as a nominee and is among the 36 companies vying for the prestigious Product of the Year award.

This year on June 3, the companies presented their BC products to a panel of judges in a Dragon’s Den style format. It is now up to the judges to choose who will be given the Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards at the upcoming gala.

“We are amazed at both the quality and the quantity of nominations for the BC Food & Beverage Awards this year,” said James Donaldson, CEO of the BC Food Processors Association, which hosts the Awards.  “The judges had a more challenging time determining the award finalists this year than I’ve ever seen, and I think selecting a winner for each award will prove just as difficult.  It’s really a testament to the great things going on in the food and beverage industry in BC.”

Caramoomel Natural Fine Food Creations, run by Antonia Dudka and Catalina Dudka, produces jams, jellies, and other items from traditional family recipes. All their products are all natural and made without preservatives or artificial additives of any kind.

The company’s mouth-watering products include Spicy Ginger Apple Butter, Raspberry Chocolate Caramel Fondue Spread, and Hot Garlic Pepper Wine Jelly. Many of their products are also gluten free in addition to being all natural. Their products can be found all over B.C., in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and Yukon.

Finalists have been selected in eight award categories by an independent judging panel. The awards include Innovation, Leadership, Rising Star, People First, Sustainability, and Export.

The winners will be announced on September 17 in Vancouver at the BC Food and Beverage Awards Gala.
