It keeps getting worse, with no end in sight.

Canfor, an integrated forest products company, announced Thursday evening it will be implementing phased summer curtailments in July and August at its Intercontinental and Northwood NBSK pulp mills in Prince George.

“This is due to a significant deterioration in market conditions,” Canfor said in a press release.

The company adds the combination of supply constraints and higher fibre prices are the reason for the curtailments.

Canfor said the curtailments will reduce their pulp’s production output by roughly 70,000 tonnes of NBSK pulp.

“The company intends to resume full production at Intercontinental and Northwood in September,” the statement said.
