The Area 27 motorsports park in Oliver continues to grow, with the completion of a new clubhouse and work underway on a public go-kart track.
Members of the private club now have access to an 11,000 square-foot clubhouse at the track, including a lounge and dining area, patio, classroom, locker rooms, show room, pro shop, and offices for executive staff.
A grand opening for the facility was held for members last weekend.
Paving is also expected to start later this month on a new kartplex. The “open to the public” kartplex has also been designed by Canadian racing icon Jacques Villeneuve.
The new karting centre will be open to customers of all ages and experience levels seven days a week. Drop-in and pre-booked racing will be available with a fleet of state-of-the-art TB race karts.
The new kart track is being constructed with a special polymer modified asphalt racing surface from Penticton’s Peters Bros. Paving company. It’s expected to open later in July.
Area 27 also announced Monday it is the new home of the Camaro Driving Academy, a partnership with General Motors Canada and Chevrolet. A fleet of 1LE Chevrolet Camaros will be offered to students through a 2.5-day course delivered by racing professionals like chief instructor Kees Nierop.
Area 27 is now in its third full season of racing. The club limits individual memberships to just 300 and 10 corporate memberships.
