B.C.-based Accent Inns Inc. received a prestigious honour at the 2019 North American Employee Engagement Awards in New York on Thursday.

Accent Inns Inc., which operates a hotel of the same name along with Hotel Zed in Kelowna, received the highly commended distinction, which is the runner-up honour, for the Employee Culture & Purpose Award.

“Being recognized by the Employee Engagement Awards for our workplace culture is a great accomplishment for all of us at Accent Inns Inc.,” president and CEO Mandy Farmer said in a press release. “Our greatest asset has always been our people, and we work hard at building a culture that fosters their success both professionally and personally.”

The company said its 2018 employee survey indicated 95 per cent of its employees were “happy to be here,” which was up from 85 per cent in 2017. More than 20 per cent of its workforce has been with one of the hotels for more than 10 years.

Arity was the company that won the Employee Culture & Purpose Award. It is a transportation technology company based in Chicago.
