Penticton to host tourism boss

The federal tourism minister is coming to the Okanagan for lunch next week.

The Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce is bringing in Melanie Joly to speak about Canada’s new federal tourism strategy and how it will create new opportunities for jobs and generate economic growth that benefits everyone.

The lunch will be held at Penticton Trade and Convention Centre on Thursday, May 23. The doors will open at 11:30 a.m., lunch starts at noon, and Joly will give her presentation at 12:30 p.m. A question-and-answer period will follow.

Joly has served as a minister since 2015. She was minister of Canadian Heritage until last July before taking up the tourism post.
